I agree that the fear of terrorist attacks are selling points to push pro-war agendas. But can you honestly tell me that the fear mongering about people losing health coverage or the economy collapsing or whatever isn't being used by the Democratic party right now?

For example:

"I will not accept"... "we must act now"... Basically, hurry up let's do this quickly. This is quite different from, let's look at what is wrong and use our logic and constitution to help pay afford critical services.

I see Fox News at my g/fs parents all the time. I watch very little MSNBC. I get enough of Olbermann on football. He's a douche.

I do agree that they are both guilty of slanted news. I was just talking about how I don't constantly hear that the government is putting my life in danger and national security from liberals so much. I can't stand it. It feels like 9/11 became a selling point.

I'm curious, how often do you watch Fox News? How often do you question CNN or MS-NBC?

I would have to say that Fox does its fair share of slanted news but if you're saying they're the worst, I would propose that is because you're not a Republican or neo-conservative. I know you're more socially liberal than the folks on Fox News. You do have to admit, *swings head to the right to camera 2*, Sir! , *swings head back to camera 1*, that Olbermann and his "Worst Person in the World" skit is pretty polarizing and non-substantive. It is very much one of those "name-calling" items you say you dislike.

I don't believe that Obama could have won the election by that big of a margin if a significant number of people are racist. That would mean that the rest of the country that voted for George W Bush for two consecutive terms all of a sudden fell off the Republican-mobile and rolled all the way to the far left. I don't believe there was that big of a shift in political ideology. I believe the Obama vote was a vote against the Iraq War (Amazing how well that worked out) and the Republican Party being filled with lying corrupt neo-conservatives.

I would say that far more people are doing research into fiscal policy, big government, foreign policy, government efficiency and waste, and other items that have contributed to the mess we're in now. As they do that, they'll see that our country was founded in a completely different fashion from which it is being represented as now and they would prefer it to be more liberty based.

You've been waiting for this one for a while....

I whole-heartedly agree. That's what I can't stand about modern day politics. Name-calling definitely takes away from the real issues and debate. People are constantly led astray from the truth by talking heads and are too lazy to educate themselves (or just don't believe their favorite talking head would ever lie to them). People on both sides do this, but I think FOX is the worst about it, especially taking fear-mongering into account.

I can not believe Carter said that, but I guess I was never a fan of his in the first place. And of course many people are against Obama because of his race (especially birthers). I think some people are even subconsciously racist and it leads them to be against some of his ideas. However, it is absolutely retarded to think someone a racist just because they disagree with something (and have a viewpoint to back it up).
