So I get a politically natured e-mail forwarded from my dad. We talk a lot of politics. This one, however, was another one of those e-mails that tries to scare people out of voting for Obama. I just had to respond. I’m posting what I wrote on here.

not been released,or Kerry’s medical record,then again why should we
worry, when many have their skivvies all in a bunch, because McCain is

Well I’m glad we’ve gotten down to the root of the issues. I’m really glad that we’re all spending our time doing research on the candidates as opposed to forwarding on fear and doubt in unfounded claims.
I’d like to address these claims 1 by 1. If you’re not busy (just as Colombo thinks Obama is) read them all. Feel free to respond if you’re up for intelligent, factual debate. Educate yourself before you vote, just like you say you educate yourself, or go to the polls an ignorant hypocrite.

But now that education is an issue we’re talking about, I’m sure everyone that read this message knows about John McCain and how he finished 5th from last in his class at Anapolis. He had over 100 demerits a year. He was known as the party animal. He wrecked five aircraft before he was captured to be a POW. I’m sure we’ve all reviewed his records too, right?
If they really matter as presented in this quest for records, McCain loses.

He says he lost it. Does it really matter? Does everyone that received this e-mail really have all the documents McCain wrote when at Anapolis? In the end is this going to change policy making? Do you honestly think that Obama is some sort of secret weapon trying to take over the US? Can anyone explain to me why a college thesis matters in a presidential election? Obviously he got into Harvard Law School after Columbia so they accepted his thesis and other records. I’m sure Harvard is a part of this Obama conspiracy, right?

For some background on me, I’m a registered Republican who voted for a Republican in the primaries.
I refuse to vote for McCain because he’s been caught lying, he’s for a bankrupting war, he’s politics as usual when it comes to changing his mind about issues for political gain (if you don’t believe me, read his record in Congress versus what he’s using as a platform during this election).
Personally I’d like to see neither of the two in the White House but the reality behind the Republican Party this year was a bunch of talking heads promoting the same agenda we’ve had for the last eight years under George W Bush (six of which were with a Republican Congress, this is the best situation to get stuff done, what has been done?).
The only Republican candidate that was worth a damn this year was Ron Paul. If you’ve heard him speak about his platform, you know why I say this. Now if you know Ron Paul’s platform and wonder why a Libertarian registered as a Republican spent his Saturday night (on his birthday, no less) writing an e-mail to people who are probably too lazy to read or so stubborn they won’t accept the truth because it doesn’t fit their agenda. Well it is because I realize we need to stop what we’ve been doing under Bush and McCain has a record that matches Bush at 90%. We all know the gap between the upper class and middle class is growing and McCain has proposed a tax cut for the top 5% of America (including those poor, poor oil companies).

Now there are a ton of other issues that we can debate. But please, please keep it to the issues. If you really don’t agree with Obama’s platform, don’t vote for him. But this petty fear mongering chain mail garbage makes you part of the problem. Keep it to the issues and get your head out of the sand.

T Boone Pickens is an incredibly smart man that is standing up and showing us all the numbers we’re creating when it comes to oil prices. 88 million barrels of oil is demanded each day globally. The oil is coming out at 85 million barrels a day. Obviously supply in demand shows that we’ve hit the peak of our oil production and cannot move back to having more oil than we need. We’re getting the majority of our oil from Canada but we need to stop sending 700 billion a year to foreign countries to pay for our fuel. T Boone Pickens proposes that we remove natural gas from our non-transportation energy sources and replace that 22 percent with wind and solar. The department of energy has already verified that we can do this. the map shows the middle of the country is the perfect place for wind farms. From the southern part of Texas all the way to the Canadian border we can have wind turbines creating 200k megawatts and completely replacing the natural gas currently providing that energy. In addition to that. The southwest region of our country can be covered in hybrid situations of wind and solar which would actually create more energy than we have now. What this does is fills the gap where natural gas was previously allowing that natural gas to be used for transportation energy. Increasing mileage standards, using natural gas for transportation energy, and changing our habits as a society would easily remove 400 billion dollars a year from our trade deficit.
The model for this idea is Sweetwater Texas. The town was up to 12k residents at one point when it started drying up. The population dropped to 10k and now with its new wind power project it is back up to 12k. This is a direct example of how keeping money local can help. If this was repeated all over Texas and all the way north to Canada, we would have a huge boom in the economy (especially locally to those regions). Now all we need to do is get our government to listen, cooperate, and act!
