Running away from video games

About two or three months ago, I gave up something that I thought was eating up a lot of my time. Time that I complain I don’t have enough of. Well it worked. I’ve gotten a ton accomplished and learned quite a bit.

Now, I have to put my man pants on, and get away from the video games. I’m spending too much time playing when I could be productive on music, websites, work around the house, etc. etc. etc.

I feel gray hair coming on!

Political Discussions

I was e-mailing a friend back and forth about his support for McCain vs. Obama… Here are some quotes:

About gay marriage, I have to ask you, if there was a man who quit working and started dedicating himself to his community for a year. What would you say of this man? Is that a pretty great thing for him to do? He sacrifices for the good of his community.

Now what if I told you the guy was arrested and lost his job when he was convicted and sentenced to community service. Does that make a difference on his actions?

The beautiful thing about being a good moral person, a selfless person, and a Christian is the fact that there is choice. Without choice, we’re not moral, selfless, or good Christians.

On the other side, how does a gay person being married affect you? They’re still existing, having sex, living in our society, and staying together. What real difference would it make if they got married? I’ve yet to see any Christian against gays getting married say one word about Atheists and Agnostics getting married in Christian churches.

As far as Obama being a liar, please show me some examples. Keep in mind, I’m a Libertarian and wanted Ron Paul to be President. I’m not saying Obama is the best candidate of all people that ran this year, but he is the best of the two left standing.

(in reference to an ABC interview)
So a slip of his words about his religious beliefs is enough for you to discount him completely? You do know he was a member of a Baptist church for 26 year or something like that. You think he’s secretly a Muslim but sat through Baptist church services for that long?

(in reference to this guy saying Obama is working with known terrorists and radical Islamic groups)
I  have yet to see any proven terrorists or radial Islamic Muslim groups that he’s been working with. Maybe you could provide some links to proof of that.

(in reference to Obama having NO experience)
McCain’s experience (and his lobbyist campaign staffer experience) are exactly why this country is so screwed up. His experience got us into the trouble we’re in. How could you possibly think that he’s going to fix anything when he’s part of the problem?

(in reference to Obama “going against US policy”)
Going against US policy? I’m not sure what you mean by this. Send me a link of an example.
(in reference to his claim that Obama is the beginning of the end times)
As far as being the second coming of the devil, he’s not Jewish like the bible said. And you think that the second coming of the devil is going to be someone that is incredibly different or someone who fits right in and rises to the top?

This is a black man, first ever, running for the President. He’s from a mixed marriage, which is another first ever. He’s one of the youngest, if not the youngest, running for President. He has all the odds against him yet you think that this is the vehicle the devil would choose?

If it does happen in our lifetime, it will be an average white male with the perfect smile and family. It would be the perfect vehicle to get control.

I personally think its a cop out and very very shallow thinking when it comes to picking a political candidate. McCain is a liar, he cheated on his first wife when she was in a disfiguring car wreck, abandoned her and met his new rich wife, had more kids with her, and has been caught lying more times than I can count. Check out the Keating Five. Read the story about his first wife. Tell me if you think supporting that man is what the Bible tells you to do.

I found the perfect quote for a logical stance on gay marraige as a Christian

“I happen to believe the government shouldn’t be in the business of sanctioning marriage at all. It’s a private religious matter between a man, a woman and God. As a Christian that’s what I believe. As a Libertarian, I say you’re free to believe differently if you want. If your god will sanction a different kind of marriage, then that’s between you and your god. ”
